St John's Charities Committee Host Christmas Party for Senior Citizens

Body

St John's Charities Committee spread a real sprinkle of festive cheer when children and staff members hosted their annual Christmas party for local care home residents. Both Byron House and Senior House members of the Committee provided such joy, engaged conversation and a variety of entertainment throughout this heartwarming event. The Christmas party is part of a rich and cherished tradition at St John's of helping the local community.

I wanted to get to know the guests really well and I liked serving them food and drinks. I spent the whole afternoon there as I was also singing in Byron House Chamber Choir, it was so much fun.

Guests enjoyed being served mince pies, cakes, sandwiches and drinks - all thanks to the preparation of our hardworking catering staff. Committee members created beautiful table displays and shared smiles and a warm welcome as they escorted the guests across the playground and into the hall.

Both our Byron House Chamber and T2 Choirs lifted spirits when they sang a selection of rousing festive pieces. Some of our Form 6 Committee also performed seasonal poems, including an extract from Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol'. The afternoon concluded with all attendees singing well-loved festive tunes, including the staple 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas', before receiving Christmas gifts which had been kindly donated by St John's families.

I loved it when we all sang happy birthday to Jean who was 100 years old! She seemed really happy with the birthday card we gave her too.
