St John's has hosted a wealth of informal lunchtime and evening concerts this term and the whole school community always looks forward to the two Services in Preparation for Christmas at St John's College Chapel in the final few days of the Michaelmas term. In the week prior to these Services nearly 40 talented musicians across Senior House performed at this year's Piazza Brass concert.
Our musicians and music teachers alike donned festive jumpers, hats and sparkling tinsel to create a festive atmosphere with some even draping the instruments themselves.
The children were absolutely brilliant at listening to one another and kept the tempo going superbly.
After Wind Band had performed their pieces, Big Band and Rednotes added to the festive spirit by performing some well-loved seasonal favourites. Two Form 5 and one Form 6 vocalists performed during these songs and delighted the audience with their rendition of some Christmas classics.
I performed in Wind Band and it went really well with the audience smiling throughout! It was also great to watch the other pieces too as we hadn't heard them until the actual concert. I think everyone went away feeling in a Christmas mood.
