Pupils Dazzle in Inaugural Gymnastics and Dance Show

Body

The Gymnastics and Dance Show was a new initiative this year, providing a platform for pupils who enthuse in gymnastics and dance. After attending lunchtime clubs, some of our Senior House pupils performed their self-led choreography for the evening display.

The event featured a wide range of dance styles, including Bollywood, Ukrainian Folk Dance, K-Pop, Street Dance and Jazz. The range of dances, as well as the versatility of the gymnasts, was a real demonstration of the children's creativity, collaboration and capability.

This innovative show brought together the Performing Arts and Sport Department to celebrate the talented and passionate gymnasts and dancers across both Byron House and Senior House.

Form 2 performed an entirely improvised piece they have been working on in their Dance lessons this term, exploring spatial relationships, connection, unison work, and making choreographic decisions in the moment. They learnt to make creative choices by watching each other and listening to the music. The evening concluded with Strictly Club, who dazzled in their flamboyant costumes with Ballroom and Jive performances.

The atmosphere was fantastic and the children were, rightly, so proud of each other and themselves. We look forward to this initiative going from strength to strength in future years.
