Our Parents’ Association revived the popular SJCS Quiz Night, where teams battled for first place to win a bottle of prosecco and a plant and, of course, the glory! Over 90 guests were welcomed with a glass of fizz to drink whilst mingling, before sitting down in their teams to a selection of charcuterie nibbles.
Drama teacher, Mr Evans, compared the evening delighting the crowd with his humour and charisma. Rounds included: ‘SJCS Past & Present’, ‘Guess the Herb’, ‘Teacher’s Pet’ and ‘Drop-off, Pick-up’, where guests’ skills in maths, music, history (and even smelling!) were put to the test.
I would vote for an annual Quiz Night! I think it really brings people together in a lovely, fun way.
The La Biga Pizza van arrived at the halftime break to refuel the contestants with hot stone-baked pizza. The highest scoring team at this point were presented with a bottle of prosecco to have with their pizzas. Pudding was home-made cakes and treats kindly donated by staff and parents. The teams then got their heads back down for the second half.
The all-women team ‘One of us really is a Rocket Scientist!’ (yes, one of them really IS a rocket scientist) were crowned SJCS PA Quiz Champions 2025. Team ‘Table 4’ won the coveted wooden spoon for being excellent sports!
The SJCS PA aims to fundraise and FUNraise, by bringing the whole School community together for a variety of events and raising money for their chosen charities. This academic year, the charities are Castle School Cambridge, who are fundraising for a wheelchair swing for their playground, and Home Start Cambridgeshire, who support young families. A portion of the funds raised will also go towards the brand new SJCS Bursary Endowment Fund, which aims to transform lives by increasing opportunities for deserving children in our community to benefit from a St John’s College School education.
That was a fabulous evening, super well organised and SO much fun. Just the ticket.
The SJCS PA wishes to thank the School, guests and everyone involved, for a successful and joyful evening, and are delighted that over £1,000 was raised.
