Last week a group of our Year 8 children took part in the PowerHouse Games at the Cambridge University Sports Centre, which was organised and run by the charity Power2Inspire (Inclusion through Sport) with its founder, Mr John Willis.
The morning focused on taking part in adapted games and sports. After the welcoming ceremony, the participants took part in a rota of inclusive sports including: boccia, touch rugby, new age curling, goalball, walking football and sitting netball - all different examples as to how sports can be made accessible.
“The PowerHouseGames is an incredible sports day using adapted games and sports. All the activities are especially designed to be accessible and fun for everyone, old and young, with disabilities and none, sporty and not – and in so doing are wonderfully inclusive.” (Founder ~ John Willis)
Power2Inspire's mission is to see a society where everyone can enjoy inclusive sport together: having fun playing sport regardless of age, gender, faith, ethnicity or disability. The charity's task is to embed inclusive sport in communities by delivering events for everyone to enjoy.
